Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family was a military one and lived in Louisiana at the age of nine years old. She won an audition competition by singing a rendition of Patsy Montana's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker was able to move to Georgia at the age of 15. She wrote songs frequently as well as visiting Nashville to find deals. In her early teens, a Big Yellow Dog Records representative saw her work and began to sell her songs to labels and musicians. The demos of Decker were listened to from Mercury Records president David Massey and passed on to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group-affiliated record label L.A. Reid was able to sign Decker to a deal. In August 2009, Decker released her first self-titled album, titled Jessie James. Jessie James was reasonably successful and also featured Wanted an album track that made it to into the Top 40 of the singles charts. However while Decker had always considered herself as a singer from the country genre, the album was produced and marketed with a pop audience in the back of her mind. Decker, who had been dissatisfied by the two other singles that were released from the album, fought against the management of the record label in search of better influence. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which was more than a country track. Decker's sophomore studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury had it shelved and three of Decker's country tracks failed. The album was later canceled.
