April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. As a seventh-grade student she began to take piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her passion for music writing. As April approached 14 years old, she spent the majority of her time making song concepts as well as perfecting the song. Soon after, April started to go on trips with her dad and to write songs at home in NY or LA. April began also to incorporate different topics related to some of her friends dealing in the area of social pressure and teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle influencer, as well as being a partner with clean beauty brands Ilia she has gained a large following. She was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her disability. But it also doesn't insist on her disability. What message is it trying to convey? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our identity and physical self aren't as appear. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She does not want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. It doesn't impact my daily activities. I go about the same way as I always do and have found different ways of adapting. But it's also a part of me, so I believe it's essential to discuss. Lockhart, a real motivation for self-acceptance generally and is currently on a lengthy process to attain it. She still admits having gone through phases in her life with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased her arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of herself in the outfits she chooses on social platforms.
